TWO high-speed ferry services from Dover could be in operation by the end of May, creating more jobs.
Navmed wants to set up a fast ferry service between Dover and Calais and Dover and Boulogne, operating out of the Eastern Docks.
And now another company, called Euroferries Limited, has stated it intends to run a high-speed service, from Dover to Calais and Boulogne.
Both companies, which have been newly created, say their services will start in April or May.
It is believed Euroferries is about to secure the lease to the hoverport at Dover’s Western Docks, which has stood empty since last November.
Keith Southey, spokesman for the Port of Dover, said: "We are at an advanced stage with one potential operator for the hoverport. They have indicated that they would like to start as soon as possible."
A temporary website for Euroferries Limited has been set up and is inviting people to apply for jobs.
It states: "Establishing Euroferries Limited as the most innovative, successful and effective high-speed cross-Channel operator. Services between Dover-Calais and Dover-Boulogne.
"The mission will provide a unique UK-France quality service that is competitive on price but not a budget operator. It will focus on offering value for money and an outstanding customer experience before, during and after each crossing."
The website, which was created on April 14, adds that staff are required for all aspects of the service and interviews will be held in Dover, Calais and Boulogne.
Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Navmed, said staff at the company were still working away to get their service up and running.
The company has previously stated it hopes to use the former Hoverspeed fast craft, create 500 jobs and aims to be in service by May 15.
