MORE than 50 jobs will be created and a major business will be able to expand when the Denton Relief Road at Gravesend is completed. Comma Oil and Chemicals employs 240 people and exports more than £9 million of its annual product, but was almost forced to move out of town six years ago.
It could not expand its Lower Range Road site due to inadequate access. Now it is set to stay, providing 50 new jobs, and it is hoped the surrounding land will also be developed to create more.
Chief executive of Comma Oil and Chemicals, Paul Hudson, said: "The support from Gravesham council and our MPs over the years has been outstanding. Without their commitment Comma would have moved its operations many years ago.
"Being in the community and working with the community in partnership is a corner stone of our mission here at Comma. We will continue to ensure that the increased employment opportunities will be filled by local people."
