A PROPOSAL to use new American-style yellow school buses in Medway has been scrapped.

Instead, old British coaches will be repainted yellow. It follows the collapse of the scheme to import the buses from America or Turkey.

New contracts are being let by the council after the success of the experimental service between Rainham and Rainham Mark Grammar School.

The new operators are expected to but 15-year-old former express coaches into service.
