Get set for 130mph thrill on high-speed bullet trains

Potential passengers are to get the chance to try out the new 140mph Javelin trains in the next few weeks.

The Japanese bullet trains will run between Ebbsfleet and St Pancras.

The trains are due to go into service between Medway and St Pancras from December 14 as part of a massive change in local train services.

No date has yet been announced for the so-called proving runs, said the spokesman, but it will give potential passengers a chance to try out the high speed trains while the rail company continues its trials of the deep blue rolling stock.

“We want to give people who don’t normally travel by train the chance to see the new services,” she said.

“They will discover that St Pancras is the best connected station for underground trains.”

The new timetables - complete with fare increases of up to 35 per cent for St Pancras journeys from Medway - are still being planned.
