I did it my way.
At least, I would have done, if I’d been buying a new Mazda. Instead Hendy very kindly sent one of their brand champions – along with a new CX-5 – to talk me through the intriguing MyWay service, which is designed to make the process of buying a car as stress-free as possible.
How does it work?
Let’s pretend that I'm not a I’m poorly paid journalist and can, therefore, afford a new car. Now let's pretend that, rather conveniently, the Mazda CX-5 has caught my eye. The new model gains a more muscular front end and finer detailing. It’s the same on the inside and the layout and switchgear will be familiar to anyone who has driven a first-generation model.
A closer look will, however, reveal a very real step up in quality. The fit, finish and material quality are a match for any of the firm’s rivals. To improve the driving experience the armrests have been repositioned and the gear lever now sits 40mm higher. It’s clear that, throughout the cabin, small changes have made a great difference.
Mazdas have a deserved reputation for delivering an enthusiastic driving experience and the CX-5 is no exception. It’s precise, communicative and composed when required, but also delivers the comfort and refinement required for longer journeys.
Having returned from my test drive satisfied that the CX-5 is, indeed, the car for me the brand champion, with the assistance of modern technology, will now go through the finer details and help me choose the specification and, most importantly, tell me how much of my hard-earned I’m going to have to part with.
Then it’s just a matter of arranging delivery of my new car.
