Motorists were hit with a double whammy this morning when two sets of traffic lights failed on a busy road.

A power cut in Loose, Maidstone, affected peak time travel with motorists carefully negotiating the busy Wheatsheaf junction and the nearby Armstrong Road crossroads.

There were no reports of any crashes and traffic appeared to be running well.

Reports that Loose junior and infants' schools remained closed proved false.
