Traffic delays should be expected in Kent over the bank holiday while the rest of the country enjoys a quick getaway.

The depressing news comes after the Highways Agency agreed to lift nearly two thirds of roadworks on major motorways from August 22 until midnight on August 25.

But Kent will be one of the 38 sites over the weekend where roadworks will remain in place for safety reasons.

Moderate delays will be expected on the A2 stretch between Bean to Cobham, near to Gravesend while widening works continue.
