Operation Stack has been stood down on the M20.
Kent police lifted the emergency traffic measure between junctions 8 and 9 at 2am this morning, as the backlog of freight held up by a French strike action was finally shifted.
The move will come as a relief to drivers heading to the continent for the bank holiday weekend, who looked set to experience severe delays on the roads had Stack stayed in place.

Phase 2 of the operation was first put into place Wednesday morning, due to a fishermen's blockade of Calais that stopped all ferry services entering the port.
The strike action ended on Wednesday evening, but a second bout of industrial action, this time by French rail workers, caused further disruption.
Drivers are still advise to check cross-Channel journeys before travelling.
