RAIL passengers in Kent were today experiencing travel chaos due to a strike by rail guards which is crippling many services.

Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union are staging the first of three 24-hour walkouts in a dispute over their safety role, with the prospect of further industrial action unless there is an early settlement.

The strike is taking place nationwide. The train companies affected include Connex.
