Lorry drivers will descend on Medway again next week for the start of a second convoy to London.

Hauliers from Kent are planning a second protest in the capital as the cost of filling up continues to rise.

Truckers will leave from the Farthing Corner service station on the northbound M2 at Gillingham at around 7.15am on Tuesday.

An estimated 1,000 lorries from across the UK are expected to take part heading straight to Downing Street to hand a letter to Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Kent driver Peter Knight is helping to organise the event. He said:“This week we have seen a five pence increase in a litre of fuel.

"It’s something we’re not going accept any more. It’s driving hauliers out of business.”

Truckers want a rebate introduced which would allow HGV drivers to claim some fuel duty back.

They also argue UK tax levels make them uncompetitive when compared to continental Europe
