A smashed car was displayed on Saturday in a bid to reduce the number of traffic accidents in the area.
Firemen were on Walmer Green to talk to passers-by about the dangers of driving irresponsibly and a road safety vehicle, showing videos and pictures of road accidents, was parked by the lifeboat station.
Dover and Deal MP Gwyn Prosser braved the wind and rain to visit the show, which included a speed camera van and Kent Police motorcycles parking up so officers could answer questions.
The event, called Carmageddon, was organised by Kent Fire and Rescue in partnership with Kent Police, Kent County Council and campaigners for safety improvements on the A258 Dover-Deal road.
Deal Fire Station’s crew manager, Paul Evans, said: “The weather was very wet, so we didn’t get as many people as we hoped.
“We had a demonstration of firefighters cutting a car open which we couldn’t do because of the rain, but there is another road safety event planned for next year.”
