Man airlifted to hospital after falling overboard from fishing vessel

A man has been airlifted to hospital after he went overboard from a fishing vessel in the North Sea in the early hours of the morning.

Lerwick lifeboat and a coastguard helicopter went to the scene around 30 miles south east of Sumburgh in Shetland when the alarm was raised at 3.20am on Thursday.

The coastguard said he was airlifted to hospital in Lerwick.

The man’s condition is not known.
