Aldi is recalling packets of its tortilla wraps because they may contain pieces of metal.

The supermarket retailer has issued a recall notice for the Village Bakery Tortilla Wraps, made by Signature Flatbreads UK, amid fears the product may have been ‘tampered’ with.

The company said the move is a precautionary measure.

An alert, issued by the Food Standard Agency, confirms that the recall applies to the supermarket’s 8x62g packets with all best before dates up to and including April 29, 2024.

A message on the FSA website explains: “Signature Flatbreads UK is taking the precautionary step of recalling Village Bakery 8 Tortilla Wraps White because of a possible presence of metal, as the product may have been tampered with.

“The possible presence of metal makes this product unsafe to eat.

“This is an isolated incident and is not linked to other product recall information notices, (PRINs) recently published for metal contamination. No other Aldi or Signature Flatbreads UK products are affected.”

Shoppers with the affected item are being told to take it back for a full refund. Image: Stock photo.

Any customer with an affected packet is being asked to return it to their nearest Aldi for a full refund.

Notices are also being placed in supermarket aisles to explain to shoppers why the item has been recalled.
