Hocus Pocus is returning to cinema screens across the country as the film celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The Disney classic, which has developed somewhat of a cult following in recent years, is being released back to the big screen from Friday, September 29.

Hocus Pocus is returning to cinema screens to celebrate its 30th anniversary

Showings are to take place at branches of Vue, Odeon, Cineworld, Curzon and The Light throughout next month in the run up to All Hallows’ Eve on October 31.

A new film trailer is also being prepared ahead of the anniversary screenings.

The film is about three witches from Salem who want to reclaim their youth

The movie, with a PG rating, stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three wild witches who return from 17th-century Salem after they’re accidentally conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters on the night of Halloween..

But comic chaos ensues as the 300-year-old trio attempt to cast a spell on the town and reclaim their youth.

The film was first released in 1993

First released in July 1993, the film initially failed to impress critics and didn’t do as well as was hoped at the box office.

However in the years that followed its army of fans and followers has grown with its increasing popularity also proving to be added motivation for the making of sequel Hocus Pocus 2, which came out in 2022.

Doug Davis, CEO of Park Circus – the company behind the re-release - said: “This Halloween, we are thrilled to be marking 30 years of the Sanderson Sisters in style with our biggest celebration of this Disney favourite yet at hundreds of cinemas across the UK and beyond.”
