Lidl is recalling a range of character-themed children’s treats because a website on the packaging has reportedly been ‘compromised’ with explicit content.
The budget retailer has asked shoppers with four types of Paw Patrol snacks it was selling to bring them back to shops after being alerted to the problem.
The packs of Yummy Bakes and Paw Patrol Mini Biscotti - which the supermarket says are a ‘branded limited-offer product’ and not part of the company’s core range - all have a website address on the back of the packaging.
But that website is understood to have since been compromised with content not suitable for children.
Product recalls issued by the supermarket and being circulated by consumer group Which? ask customers not to visit the site and instead return any packets to their nearest shop for their money back.
In a statement Lidl explained: “As soon as this was brought to our attention, we immediately launched an investigation with the supplier that owns the URL and withdrew the item from sale.
“As a precautionary measure we have also issued a public recall.”
