A six-day long strike on London’s Underground has been called off.

Transport for London says unions have called off planned walkouts on the tube next week – which had coincided with the start of the school holidays.

Members of the RMT union had intended to strike from July 23 to July 28.

Unite and Aslef members were also due to join them on July 26 and July 28 with predictions that few underground services would have been able to run during the week.

Aslef, which represents the vast majority of tube drivers, said “real progress” had been made with Transport for London in talks overseen by Acas and unions are understood to now be considering offers.

Train strikes by the RMT are still scheduled to still go ahead on July 22 and July 29.
