Fans of Worcester Sauce Walkers crisps can tuck in no more after it was confirmed the flavour has been discontinued.
The crisp option, which came in a purple-coloured Walkers bag, was based on the tangy-tasting sauce of the same name.
In the past few weeks shoppers unable to track down the purple bags on shelves had taken to social media to question their prolonged absence - asking Walkers where the crisps were and whether they were ever coming back.
One customer asked: “Is it just me that’s noticed but I've not seen these in my local shop/supermarket for a while now, @Walkers_crisps can I still get them?”
While another explained that they’d religiously been checking the snack aisles for the last few months with no sign of the bags.
But in replies to the questions this week – Walkers confirmed it is no longer selling Worcester Sauce in its current range either as individual bags or in multipacks.
In a tweet, its social media account explained: "Hi, we're sorry but Worcester sauce flavour is no longer part of our range."
The news was greeted with disappointment with one person replying: “Every week for the last 8 months I’ve been looking on Tesco website for the Worcester Sauce Crisps pack of 6 but they were always out of stock, now I know why.
“They are my favourite crisps and I will miss eating them straight from the bag and in sandwiches R.I.P Worcester Sauce R.I.P.”
Well known for introducing unique and unusual flavours alongside its more traditional crisp offerings - still available to entice avid snack fans are Pickled Onion in a bright green bag, Tomato Ketchup in red and Marmite in a black Walkers packet.
