TV stars Timothy West and Prunella Scales enjoyed a visit to a Kent tourist hotspot last week.

The West End star and Fawlty Towers actress paid a trip to the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (RH&DR) in which they travelled from Hythe to Dungeness.

Described as “legends of stage and screen” by staff at the railway, the pair were shown around the site and all had an “enjoyable day”.

West, who also featured in Eastenders and Coronation Street, was pictured next to the Great West’ern Limited train.

In a Facebook post, bosses at the railway said it was “a pleasure” showing West, 88, and Scales, 91, around the site.

Last year, the war-time train line marked its 95th anniversary.

The RH&DR was commandeered by the War Department during the Second World War and featured the only miniature armoured train in the world.
