A259 Hythe Road, near Dymchurch, closed in both directions following two-car crash

A main road was closed in both directions following a crash involving two cars.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were scrambled to the A259 Hythe Road, near Dymchurch, following the incident yesterday afternoon between Burmarsh Road and Marine Avenue.

Kent County Council Highways told drivers to use an alternative route and allow extra time for their journey.

A woman was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London with serious injuries, while a man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital by road for further treatment.

A police spokesperson said: “The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and reopened at around 6pm.”

Traffic was seen queuing in both directions due to the incident, which happened at 1.50pm close to the Neptune Pub and Carvery.

According to reports, the accident was cleared in both directions from Botolphs Bridge Road to Burmarsh Road at 6.20pm.
