Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance called to crash near Romney Marsh Visitor Centre, New Romney

A motorcyclist has been flown to hospital after a crash with a car today.

It happened on the A259 Dymchurch Road, New Romney, near Romney Marsh Visitor Centre.

Police were called at 11.50am to the incident involving the bike and a car.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance

A spokesman said: "The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London. The car driver is reportedly unhurt."

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene and flew the victim to hospital.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said that the victim was a 22-year-old man who was seriously injured with a fractured leg. He was still conscious and breathing when treated by paramedics.

A land ambulance and a paramedic car were also called to the scene.

The Dymchurch Road A259 between Fairfield Road in New Romney and Coast Drive in St Mary's Bay was closed in both directions while the vehicles and debris were cleared.

The road had re-opened by 1.10pm.
