Arrest after caravan is reportedly stolen from St Mary's Bay, near Dymchurch

A man has been arrested after a caravan was reportedly unhooked from a vehicle and stolen during the night.

The mobile home was allegedly taken overnight Monday from St Mary's Bay, near Dymchurch on Romney Marsh.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of theft

The owners called police at 7am yesterday (Tuesday) to report that it was missing.

A police spokesman said: "A caravan has been recovered and a suspect arrested following a theft in Romney Marsh.

"Kent Police was called at 7am on Tuesday (March 24) following an incident in St Mary's Bay.

"The victim reported that a caravan had been unhooked from a vehicle and stolen during the night."

Later on the same day, officers visited an address in Newington, near Sittingbourne and recovered the caravan.

As a result, a 37-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of theft.

He has been bailed until Friday, April 17.
