The police have just left the scene of a major crash where a 4x4 Volkswagen car ploughed into a pub.

The incident happened at 3.17pm in New Romney High Street, where the silver vehicle is believed to have accelerated through a low brick wall of a car park before hitting the opposite building.

There were no serious injuries reported and the car has since been recovered.
