Flowers left at tragic crash site in Romney Road in Lydd

Tributes have been left at the site of a crash that killed three people.

Bouquets have appeared by the side of the B2075 Romney Road near Lydd following the tragedy on Sunday.

Emergency crews were called at about 6.20pm after a black Dacia Duster Ambiance and white BMW M135i collided.

Police were joined by crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, as well as Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

The driver of the Dacia, a woman in her 50s from Ashford, and two male passengers in the BMW – one in his 20s from Lydd and another in his 40s from Hull – were all pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for more than 12 hours while investigations took place, with the route only reopening at about 6.30am yesterday morning.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle travelling beforehand are urged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage that may assist them.
