Food vans are offering a hot meal to people who are still without power following the weekend's storms.

More than 250 people across the county are still suffering from outages, days after a series of storms left a trail of destruction across the country.

The Met Office issued its first ever red weather warning for Kent as Storm Eunice wreaked havoc last Friday.

Damage was caused to homes and cars, trees fell down and many attractions closed as people were told to stay home.

Around 71,000 Kent homes were left without power during the height of Eunice, which resulted in several days of strong winds.

Storm Franklin caused more chaos on Monday.

And some people are still waiting for their power to be restored.

According to UK Power Networks, there are currently 260 customers in Kent which are still without power.

The company says it is "working to get them back on supply as soon as possible".

Today, a food van has been set up in New Romney offering meals to those without power. Ten others are in place around the county.

The one on Romney Marsh has been set up in the car park of The Plough, in Dymchurch Road.

It comes as around 50 homes in New Romney are still without power.

It is estimated power will be restored by tomorrow.

Homes in St Mary on the Marsh, Lydd, Brookland and Dungeness are also suffering outages.

The food van was set up this morning at 9am and will offer hot food and drinks to those without power.

It will remain in place until it has "fulfilled their need to those off supply", UK Power Network said.
