Clive Emson auction: Romney Marsh Martello Tower sold for double the guide price
Published: 15:08, 11 December 2017
Could this be Kent's most expensive war building?
The historic Martello Tower, which was built in the 19th century to protect the British Empire from invasions, is located in a car park at Dymchurch, Romney Marsh.
The property had a guide price of £70,000 to £75,000.
But when it went under the hammer with Clive Emson earlier this afternoon, it fetched a staggering £145,000.
The 40ft forts were designed to hold 15 to 25 men.
