Lifeboat crews say they have recovered a body found drifting two miles off the coast.

The RNLI team at Dungeness was called at 6.50am on Saturday after the body was spotted in the water by fishermen.

The Morrell lifeboat was launched, and coxswain Stuart Adams said his volunteer crew “respectfully recovered the body” onto the lifeboat and returned to the station.

They were met by the emergency services on shore. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances being investigated, and have handed over to the Coroner.

It is not believed to be the body of the Faversham diver Ben Moss, who went missing off the coast near St Margaret's Bay while scuba diving earlier this month.

Stuart Adams added: “Our volunteers did a very professional job in very, very difficult circumstances.”
