Marsh folk trot the globe.
This photograph suggests that a contingent from Lydd went all the way to Miami to see yesterday’s pre-World Cup game between England and Equador.
The banner-waving fans saw a decidedly unfriendly friendly, when two rival players angrily clashed and were both sent off.
The ill-tempered scene was when England’s Raheem Sterling recklessly tackled Antonio Valencia. The Ecuadorian aggressively reacted by pushing and grabbing him.
The game ended 2-2 but what’s the score with who these Romney Marsh people are?
Their banner says Star Inn, Lydd, but the Station Road pub closed last year and a planning application is now going through for its change of use.
The smaller message says LUFC, immediately suggesting Lydd United Football Club.
But club secretary Ian Dimmock said: “As far as I know nobody from our club went out there. It could be from a local man who’s a fan of Leeds United.”
England's Brazil 2014 campaign starts in earnest with its first match of the tournament, against Italy, on June 14.
