A lifeboat crew rushed to aid a man who collapsed on an angling boat at sea.

It was called out by Dover Coastguard at 9.05am yesterday to rescue the man four miles southwest of Dungeness Point.

The Dungeness lifeboat The Morrell arrived and the incident was treated as a medical emergency.

The patient was transferred by stretcher from his 10-metre boat onto The Morrell and brought ashore.

A land crew then took him to a waiting ambulance and he was from there conveyed to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital.

Coxswain Stuart Adams said: “Our volunteer crew did a great job in difficult conditions.”

South East Coast Ambulance Service said that the victim had at one stage been unconsciousness but revived on the way back to shore.

Paramedics promptly assessed him onshore and then took him to hospital.
