A major road was closed in both directions following a major crash, which left a person seriously injured.

The A2070 was shut due to accident investigation work between the Ivychurch turn-off and the A259 Brenzett Roundabout near New Romney.

The accident involved a car and a motorbike and happened at about 10.20am.

A police spokeswoman said: "Kent Police was called to the A2070, Snave, Ashford at 10.22am today following a report of a serious road traffic collision.

"The incident involved a motorcyclist and a car. One person is reported to be seriously injured."

The road was closed whilst officers from the Serious Collision Unit investigated and it affected traffic between Rye and Ashford.

It was reopened just after 5pm.
