Kent Police officers were left scrambling after their patrol car got stuck on a shingle beach.

The car was on patrol on the Dungeness Estate when its front wheels got dug into the soft shingle.

Police have been monitoring beaches to ensure that the public are adhering to lockdown guidelines for the Easter weekend amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Yesterday, officers were forced to escort a family- found to have travelled from London- off a beach in Broadstairs.

Romney Marsh Countryside Partnership is often tasked with towing vehicles that get stuck in the shingle.

Volunteer Owen Leyshon said: "I have pulled out many vehicles stuck in the shingle at Dungeness National Nature Reserve over the years - as do some of the fishermen.

"However, this is my first Police car I have pulled out- I'm happy to help!"
