New Romney Sainsbury's store targeted by thieves

Police have launched an investigation into an attempted burglary at a supermarket.

Officers were contacted after staff found a window at the New Romney Sainsbury's store had been smashed in the early hours.

Thieves targeted the Dymchurch Road supermarket overnight and inquiries are ongoing.

No items are thought to have been taken from the supermarket in the raid at around 12.30am.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police is investigating a burglary at the Sainsbury's supermarket in Dymchurch Road, New Romney, which took place at approximately 12.30am on 22 August.

"A window was damaged but no items are reported to have been stolen."
