Two women were cut free from their vehicles before being taken to hospital after a crash in Romney Marsh.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment including cutters, spreaders and a dashboard ram to free two women who had become trapped.

Crews worked closely with paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to create space for the casualties to be treated for their injuries before they were removed to waiting ambulances for transport to hospital.

Police also attended the scene.

A spokesman said: "Officers attended along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Secamb.

"Two women have been taken to local hospitals with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

"A road closure was put in place while the incident was dealt with and this has now been partially lifted due to a fuel spillage which needs to be completely cleared by the highways authority."
