A poorly cat - which was lost for three days after a car crash - has been found safe on the side of busy main road.
Black and white moggy Karnu was returning home from an Ashford vets in owner Yasmin Doe's car when she was involved in a head on collision on the A2070 at Brenzett, Romney Marsh .
The road was closed in both directions following the smash, which happened last Thursday (August 20) at around 2.20pm.
But the impact of the collision saw Karnu's travel carrier break open, and when well wishers opened the car door to check on Mrs Doe, he bolted.
With his wife still in hospital, Dave Doe spent several days and nights by the side of the road searching and calling for Karnu.
Posters were also drawn up and shared on social media in the hope someone would spot the missing feline.
Mr Doe, 50, from Lydd , said: "He was probably very scared and shocked after the crash.
"We spent days and nights searching for him, I probably only had two or three hours sleep.
"He is our only pet and our first one together and he means a lot to us, especially Yasmin."
Luckily on Saturday night Karnu was found by the side of the A2070, close to where the crash happened, near the Shell petrol station.
Mr Doe, a construction worker, said: "He was full of sand when we got him back. There was a badger sett close by and I reckon he was in there and that's why he didn't come when I called him.
"He's home now. He drank like there was no tomorrow and ate too. But he's not fantastic."
Sadly, Karnu, who the Doe's adopted 10 years ago, was returning from the vets after being diagnosed with cancer.
Mrs Doe is also recovering and remains in hospital.
Mr Doe said: "She was released from intensive care on Saturday night and is now on a ward.
"She is doing OK, she is talking now."
Mr Doe said his heart sank when he arrived at the scene of the crash. He added: "I turned up when the helicopter was there.
"It was a heart in mouth moment, when you see the helicopter.
"We asked about the other lady and apparently she has broken bones.
"As long as they're both alright that is all that matters."
