A murder investigation launched after a dad died at a holiday park has ended, with no further action being taken.
Seven people were initially arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Michael McDonagh, 58, at the Parkdean Resorts park in Camber Sands in August 2022.
Sussex Police say a dedicated team has worked “tirelessly to understand the events” that led to Mr McDonagh’s death since then.
But now, the force has confirmed the investigation has concluded.
A spokesman said: “On August 6, 2022, Sussex Police launched an investigation into the tragic death of Michael McDonagh at a holiday park in Lydd Road, Camber Sands.
“Following a thorough and complex investigation, we can confirm that our enquiries have completed and that following consideration of the evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service concluded no further action will be taken.
“Our thoughts have remained with Michael’s family throughout this investigation and Sussex Police would like to express its sincere condolences for their loss.”
Guests at the park, popular with Kent holidaymakers, had that August night reported seeing a man tackled to the ground.
This was after an argument allegedly broke out following the end of a Crystal Palace vs Arsenal game, the opening football match of the Premier League season.
It was reported that police with forensics officers soon afterwards "swarmed" into the resort.
Mr McDonagh was understood to be married with children and tributes poured in on social media in the days after the tragedy.
One family member had posted: "Our hearts are broken. You will forever be in our hearts - gone but not forgotten.”
Det Ch Inspector Emma Vickers said: “Since the morning of August 6, 2022, a dedicated team has worked tirelessly to understand the events that led to Michael’s death.
“Seven people were arrested on suspicion of murder as part of this complex investigation. I can confirm all seven have now been released with no further action to be taken.
“The evidence gathered during this investigation will now be prepared for HM Coroner, as we look ahead to the inquest that will follow.
“I would once again like to express my sincere condolences to Michael’s family.”
