Neighbours have reacted with dismay to plans for expansion of an upmarket holiday resort on Romney Marsh.
Cabu By The Sea in St Mary's Bay is seeking permission to erect 10 new cabins, expand an outdoor seating area and build a new restaurant at its site in Dymchurch Road.
People living near to the resort - which is described as an "intimate retreat" with "a variety of luxury accommodations" - have expressed their concerns about the proposals.
Comments from locals submitted to Folkestone and Hythe District Council reflect overwhelming opposition to the scheme, with loss of natural habitat and late-night noise from the property among the issues raised.
The existing site is made up of 20 cabins of various sizes, a hot tub and sauna area, a welcome centre with shop, a swimming pool enclosure, a camping zone with 10 bell tents and an outdoor dining space.
Prices for a three-night stay for two people in May range from £710 to £830 depending on the type of holiday cabin chosen.
According to the application to the council, the latest proposals would form the fourth and final phase of the development.
The design and access statement submitted in support of the new plans describes the existing holiday park as a "low profile and environmentally sensitive development influenced by its coastal setting and historic use".
However, neighbours say they are excluded from use of the facilities and fear the owners of the resort will return with future plans for expansion of the property, which sits south of Dymchurch Road close to the beach.
The applicant's design statement concludes: "The proposal complements the Phase 1, 2 and 3 schemes and responds appropriately to the character of the site and its coastal setting.
"The development will involve provision of a modern, timber framed restaurant set within the existing holiday camp boundary.
"The design, layout, materials and landscaping will provide a low key, informal approach to providing a visitor attraction and ancillary facilities."
St Mary in the Marsh Parish Council has not raised any objection to the plans, providing the views of neighbours are taken into consideration.
