Bosses are aiming to open the store at the Esso garage in New Romney high street early next year.

It is set to open in a standalone building and won't be connected to the Londis which is already on the site.

A Greggs spokeswoman said: “We are due to open a new franchise shop in Kent in 2023, operated by our partner MFG.

"While we are unable to share any details at the moment, we will be sure to share further information in the coming months.”

Last month Greggs opened a new site at the Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre in Gillingham.

It opened its doors in the former Carphone Warehouse store, opposite Poundland.

The company also opened its second store in Ashford earlier this year at Ashford Retail Park in Barrey Road, creating 16 jobs.

The beloved bakery is also building its first ever drive-thru in the county in Sittingbourne.

Work is currently underway to convert the former Regis Medical Centre, in Saffron Way, Milton Regis.
