A stubborn swan who regularly plays chicken with traffic has been caught on camera staring down a Volkswagen Polo.

Pictures show the long-necked bird blocking cars in Dymchurch High Street.

In scenes reminiscent of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost pursuing an escaped swan in movie Hot Fuzz, people attempted to shoo the feathered obstacle out of the road on Saturday.

Witnesses said it was eventually coaxed away by a member of the Dymchurch Fish Bar team.

However, it is understood to have come back to swan around the village several times.

One onlooker commented: "It's telling people how to use the zebra crossing properly!"

However, one took the issue more seriously, saying: "When I saw him again on Monday he wasn't blocking the road, just walking around very lost.

"He keeps coming back, no matter how often people take him away.

"I feel the RSPCA need to get involved as his behaviour is very strange."

An RSPCA spokeswoman said that no reports about the swan had been received.
