Littlestone Golf Club say they have been inundated with membership enquiries following the sport’s return.

Courses were allowed to reopen in mid-May as part of the government’s first step towards easing lockdown restrictions across the country.

Since then, the Romney Marsh venue has seen golfers returning in their droves to take on both their Championship and Warren courses while the club have seen a surge of interest from beginners.

Second Club and Fairway Club memberships for the Championship Course are proving so popular that a waiting list for these membership categories has been reintroduced.

The club have said, however, that as so many existing members in those categories trade up to full membership, space is becoming available almost every week, ensuring new members do not have to wait too long to join.

Meanwhile, the launch of the new under-30 and under-40 membership categories at the club’s Warren course has also proved to be a huge success with 60 plus new members signing up.

The club said: “Despite a lack of rain during lockdown, both courses are in fantastic condition even though the tee sheets have been consistently busy since reopening.

“As for every club in England, the last month or so has been a period of vast adjustment as Littlestone has strived to ensure its members and guests enjoy their golf in the safest way possible.”

In line with government advice, Littlestone has introduced strict COVID guidelines both on and off course. For more details on their membership packages visit the club website.

Littlestone was due to have hosted The R&A Junior Open in July, just prior to the staging of The Open at Royal St George’s, both of which have been postponed until next year.
