James Rogers took Lydd’s latest defeat at Punjab on the chin as the hosts repeated their exuberant celebrations.

The Lydders were determined to get one over on their opponents following last week’s 3-1 FA Vase defeat and the subsequent ‘mickey-taking’ TikTok video that followed.

Joint-boss Rogers used the video to fire up his side for Saturday’s Southern Counties East league clash, only for Punjab to repeat their 3-1 victory.

Punjab enjoyed the moment again and Rogers, having spoken out about the TikTok video, took it well.

He said: “They were exactly the same in the changing room, banging on the walls and they were singing about making another TikTok video. I probably asked for that, to be honest.

“They’re a lovely club, really welcoming, and they took us in the bar after the game and gave us pizzas.

“It’s a really nice set-up there, so I can’t have a pop at them too much.

“They won the game and they’re entitled to celebrate how they want.”

Tyler Sterling’s 82nd-minute equaliser looked set to secure a point but the visitors conceded twice at the death.

“I don’t think we played that bad,” said Rogers.

“First half, we had some good chances but we didn’t take them.

“That seems to be a problem for us at the moment, not taking good chances, and then it puts pressure on the back four to keep clean sheets.

“It was 0-0 at half-time and we spoke about staying switched on and not doing anything silly but straight away we gave away a penalty for throwing someone to the floor from a corner, which killed us a little bit.

“We’ve got it back to 1-1 and then Tyler has gone through one-on-one near the end and missed and they go up the other end and score twice.”

Lydd, in 14th, still have games in hand to climb into the play-off places.

They host Sutton Athletic at the Lindsey Field tomorrow (3pm).

Rogers said: “It’s another big game. For me, it’s must-win if we want to push for the play-off places.

“We’ve got players coming back from injury - Johan ter Horst is better and Sammy Adams is getting closer - and we’re looking to add to the squad in all areas as well.

“We’ve had a reasonable start in the league, and we’ve got games in hand, but we can’t sit still.

“We’re always looking to push on.”

Lydd’s Challenge Cup second-round tie at Faversham, postponed this week due to floodlight problems at Salters Lane, has been rearranged for Tuesday (7.45pm).
