Joint-boss James Rogers has called on Lydd to back up their impressive win at title-chasing Glebe.

The Lydders came from a goal down at half-time to win 3-1 and this Saturday meet Sutton Athletic at the Lindsey Field (3pm).

Charlie Dickens, Ryan Smith and Kenny Pogue scored in quick succession in the final 20 minutes against a Glebe side who have since regained top spot from Faversham.

Having already done the double over the Lilywhites, Lydd have once again shown they have what it takes to compete with the top sides in Southern Counties East.

They now have to deliver against one of the unfancied teams in Sutton as they look to charge up the table from 13th place.

“That’s a big game for us,” said Rogers, who should have a new forward available.

“It’s no good going to Glebe and winning 3-1 and losing your home games.

“They’re a bit lower than us in the table (16th).

“I’ve not really looked at it but they’re not one of the sides people are picking out to get in those play-off places.

“We’re expecting to win our home games, so we put a lot of pressure on the boys. I want to win that game.”

Lydd go into the weekend full of confidence after their comeback victory at Glebe.

They were up against it in the first half but put things right after the break, helped by a few home truths.

“We could have been 4-0 down at half-time,” said Rogers.

“We rode our luck in the first half.

“I came in at half-time and went mad and then we came out second half and were a completely different team.

“We could have had four or five ourselves.

“The slope plays a part there. We had it in our favour in the second half and the rollicking might have helped - a few players reacted in the way I wanted them to.

“The subs have come on and made an impact, so it was a good second half from us.

“We looked to load up the box and put as much pressure on them as we could.

“They couldn’t quite cope with our physicality in the second half.

“Saying that, they’ve gone back top of the table so they’re obviously a good side. It was a good result on our part.”
