Top scorer Ryan Philpott was missed as Lydd went out of the FA Vase on penalties.
Philpott is facing six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a collarbone injury last week.
It ruled him out of the biggest day in the Lydders’ history, last Saturday’s First-Round tie against Holyport.
Hosts Lydd couldn’t take their chances in a tight affair and lost 5-4 on spot-kicks after a goalless draw.
“It was a pretty even game,” said manager Mickey Doyle.
“There weren’t a lot of chances for either side but I think we probably had the two best chances.
“It’s two headers and they’ve both gone past the post.
“It was a solid display, we were good defensively, we just lacked a cutting edge.
“We didn’t have enough ideas in the final third, we didn’t create enough to finish them off.
“We missed Ryan. He popped his collarbone against Hollands & Blair last week (4-0 Kent Senior Trophy defeat).
“He had an X-ray and is looking at four to six weeks out.”
Joe Coleman saved two Holyport penalties but the visitors progressed as Lydd’s best-ever Vase run ended.
Doyle is keen to crack on with Lydd’s Southern Counties East Division 1 promotion challenge. They’re two points clear at the top and visit Meridian this Saturday.
“We take all the positives from the Vase, it’s been enjoyable playing teams from different leagues and the community have bought into it,” said Doyle.
“We had over 100 there on Saturday which is pretty good considering Kennington were at home and Ashford were only at Hythe.
“It’s been a great experience but the Vase was a fairytale, the league is our bread and butter and that’s what we’ve got to focus on now.”
Lydd are still in the SCEFL Challenge Cup, though, and host Premier Division Deal on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
