Baypoint Leisure in Sandwich has been purchased by the Ramac Group and will not be closing

Baypoint Club in Sandwich has announced it has been purchased by the Ramac Group and will not be closing.

It posted a statement on its website to explain that the leisure centre in Ramsgate Road will remain open under the new owners and will continue trading as normal.

This comes after the centre went into administration in June and was threatened with closure.

The Ramac Group which also owns Princes Golf Club and Quayside Homes in Sandwich, as well as holding firms across east Kent.

The statement said: “As you may be aware The Baypoint Club Ltd went into administration on June 4, 2015. Since then there has been much speculation regarding the future, which in turn has led to many rumours circulating that the club would be closing in the very near future.

“We are now pleased to announce that The Baypoint Club has been purchased by the Ramac Group, who are well known within the Sandwich area principally as the owner/operator of the famous Princes Golf Course.

“Through their purchase of the club the new owners have secured the future of the facility and are happy to provide you with confirmation that there are no plans to close the club and that it is their intention for the club to continue to trade as normal.

“All of the staff are excited to be part of the new Baypoint setup and look forward to meeting with both old and new members in the very near future.”
