Controlled explosion carried out on device found at Pegwell Bay near Sandwich

A cordon was set up around Pegwell Bay near Sandwich after a device was found on the beach at low tide at around midday yesterday.

Experts, including the Southern diving unit, were called in to assess it.

They carried out a controlled explosion at 7.30pm.
