Driver from Sittingbourne accused of assaulting a police officer after a crash in Sandwich

A man is to appear in court charged with drink driving and assaulting a police officer.

Officers were called to a single vehicle collision at Monks Way roundabout, Sandwich at about 3.40pm on Friday.

The driver of the van was arrested and it is alleged an officer was assaulted. The officer received a cut to his face.

Malcolm Cox, 56, from Tonge Road in Sittingbourne was charged with drink driving and assault on an emergency worker.

He has been bailed to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on January 29.
