Sandwich Guildhall Museum will reopen after seven months on Friday with a new exhibition about pilgrimage.

A new museum assistant, funded by South East Development Programme, has been recruited to help with ensuring all Covid-19 safety measures are in place.

Visitors, who must now book their one hour slot via online or telephone, will asked to wear a mask, use hand sanitiser and provide track and trace details.

Museum and heritage manager Madylene Beardmore said: “We are delighted to be reopening the museum after seven months of closure.

"The thing we enjoy most of all is sharing the stories of our wonderful town with visitors and telling its history through our unique and fascinating objects.

"It will feel a little different opening during this uncertain time but we hope our reopening will give people an opportunity to once again engage with the museum in a safe and secure way.

"We are enormously grateful for the support we have received during the closure from volunteers, residents and the town councillors and staff.

Sandwich Guildhall Museum, refurbished in 2017, has been closed for seven months due to Covid-19

"We do hope people will take the opportunity to come and visit us.”

To book a slot email museum@sandwichtowncouncil.gov.uk, call 01304 617197 between 10am and 4pm weekdays or fill out a form via sandwichguildhallmuseum.co.uk
