A fundraising bingo night raised more than £300 for the Poulders Play Area in Sandwich.
The event was held at The Phoenix Centre, Jubilee Road and saw residents, members of Sandwich Carnival Court and Mayor Cllr Paul Graeme attend for a night of fun and games.
The fundraiser was organised by the children who enjoy playing at the park and the adults supervised and served refreshments.
Mirelle Frost, chairwoman of the Friends of Poulders Play Area, said: “It was a fun evening playing bingo with friends and neighbours in aid of Poulders Play Area. Many brought books, raffle prizes and cakes, while others donated generously to the cause.”
Poulders Play Area was faced with closure in 2005 because of funding cuts by the district council. The equipment was installed in the 1960s and was not going to be replaced when it came to the end of its shelf life.
The community fought hard to save the park in South Sandwich and have raised more than £30,000 to improve the equipment and make it accessible for all, with maintenance and safety inspections supported by Sandwich Town Council.
The money raised at the bingo night will go towards completing the access paths to make Poulders accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs, roller skates and scooters.
It will also prolong the use of the outdoor recreation provision throughout the winter months which is expected to cost £6,000.
