TRADERS worried about a new road into Sandwich will get the chance to air their views at an exhibition this week. Plans for a new £2.2 million access road from the Pfizer roundabout on Sandwich by-pass to Ramsgate Road were announced last year.
At the time traders voiced fears that businesses along the Ramsgate Road would suffer because they rely on passing trade. During the exhibition at the Guildhall on Friday and Saturday, people will get the chance to see the plans and talk to project officers from Kent County Council.
The single carriageway will pass along the southern boundary of Pfizer, between the roundabout on the Sandwich bypass and Ramsgate Road, north of the toll bridge near Stonar Lake. It is part of the multi-million pound East Kent Access scheme from Sandwich to the Lord of the Manor in Ramsgate and work is expected to start this year.
Kent County Council spokesman, Phil Scrivener, urged residents to attend the exhibition, open 2pm to 8pm Friday and 10am to 4pm Saturday.
