Sandwich Cars has thanked its customers, drivers and town councillors for their support.

The taxi firm moved to a new premises in the Grade II listed former Barclays Bank building in Cattle Market, near Delf Street.

The company, which is a partnership between Dean Macey and his father-in-law Dave Atkins, applied for a change of use to the building and was granted permission two weeks ago.

Mr Atkins said: “Dean and I have been pleasantly surprised at all the positive comments about our new office from our many loyal customers.

“We are making little tweaks every day and are now settled and pleased with the outcome.

“We have had a successful conclusion to what was a very stressful time with the support of our customers, drivers and town councillors, in particular Sue Laslett and Paul Carter.”

Sandwich Cars needed a new taxi office after the owners of their former office in Delf Street decided to try to change the property into houses.

The planning application to turn 12 and 12a Delf Street into two dwellings and one self-contained flat was granted permission in September last year.

Sandwich Cars has been operating in the town for 40 years and its new premises is at 2 Cattle Market/Delf Street, next to the Empire Cinema.
