Armed police called to Ash, Dover district, following reports of man with weapon

Firearms officers swooped on a village after a man was reported seen with a weapon.

The suspect was arrested.

This happened at 3.15pm yesterday at Chequer Lane, Ash.

A Police spokesman said: "Kent Police were called to a report a man had been seen in possession of a suspected weapon at a property in Chequer Lane.

"Officers, including firearms officers, attended and arrested a man in connection with the incident."

Police say that the suspect remains in custody while enquiries are ongoing.
