Back to work training courses are being offered at The Phoenix Centre in Sandwich.
Members of the STARR Initiative (Sandwich Town Action and Rural Revival) have been working with the Shaw Trust after discovering the need for skills training locally.
The chairman of The Phoenix Centre, Phil Scott, said: “The aim of the course is to build confidence levels, teach IT skills and help you find a job that suits you.
“If you complete the course you will receive accreditation in Employability (ASDAN) EL3/Level 1 and during the training you will find that your literacy and numeracy skills will be enhanced enough to gain a GCSE equivalent qualification.”
Mr Scott added that The Phoenix Centre is proud to be able to host such “worthwhile” training.
The course is open to anyone over 18 who lives in the Dover or Thanet district areas, is in receipt of income support, incapacity benefit or pension credits and has fewer than five GCSE
A-C passes.
Mr Scott said the courses are either full time, five days a week for 15 weeks or part-time up to 16 hours per week for up to 30 weeks.
